Market share of the Linux desktop reaches 11% in France, why is it a big deal?
StatCounter, a company specialized in analytics, just released their global August 2025 report that contains multiple market share statistics related to tech and the web. Among those reports, StatCounter releases a Desktop Operating System Market Share report, and the August 2025 report contains some good news: the Linux desktop market share reaches 11% in France. A first in history It’s the first time Linux has this much popularity in the desktop field here in France. Of course, Linux already “wins” in a lot of fields, especially for smartphones (Android). But it’s the first time since the StatCounter reports were published (January 2009) that it has reached this point. Before August 2025, the highest market share ever recorded in France for Linux was in July 2009, reaching 6.3% back then. We can also see how Windows and macOS lost part of their respective market share in favor of Linux and other operating systems. ...
Theming forgejo
Today, I want to theme my forgejo instance. After leaving GitHub to host my own Forgejo instance, I wanted to customize my Forgejo instance a bit. Nothing fancy though, I just want to change the primary color of the instance. Sounds easy at first, but it’s actually more complicated than you can imagine, because forgejo lacks support for advanced interface customization, and the documentation for theming is far from clear. Using themes Gitea supports themes (Forgejo is a Gitea fork), so we’re going to customize it that way, as I just want to change the color scheme of my instance. ...
I'm migrating from GitHub to Forgejo, and you should too.
Today is the day I finally made the move. I am leaving GitHub to host my own Forgejo instance, available here. Why? It might seem weird to move away from GitHub at first. I mean, it’s free, has a ton of features, a strong community, good SEO, free CI/CD… Why would you want to move away from that? There are 3 reasons why I’m moving off GitHub. I. Because we should all own our data. When we upload things to the internet, do we really know where they go? (This sentence looks like some conspiracy of some sort, but I swear it’s not) ...
Starting a blog!
Hello! I’ve been thinking of starting a blog for the past few years, and I guess I’m doing it today! Here, I will share my adventures. I’m a passionate developer, but I also love doing some DevOps here and there, especially with Docker compose. I’m also interested in everything server-related, especially in building my own home lab one day (but, for budget reasons, is impossible - at least yet!). I’m also a huge linux advocate, from desktops, to servers. I run Fedora Workstation with Gnome on both my laptop (a Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 9 14" custom built) and my desktop. -I cannot imagine using W*ndows now- ...
